Green Infrastructure
Parks

Aris Stalis led the Master Planning effort and the development of design documents for the implementation of Phase 1 for improvements to Oyster Shell Park.

The plan sought to capitalize on opportunities to link a number of distinct attractions. Oyster Shell Park is flanked on both sides by two of the area's most heavily visited cultural institutions: the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium and Mathews Park, which includes the Lockwood Mathews Mansion and the Stepping Stones Museum for Children.

The first phase of the project included evaluating the existing resources of Oyster Shell Park, a former landfill, to design appropriate short-term infrastructure improvements. In addition, recommendations were prepared for a long-term plan with new park amenities. Our approach was to emphasize the establishment of physical and visual connections between facilities resulting in a more vibrant park.
