Camp Harkness Master Plan
Located on 102 acres in the southeast corner of Connecticut along the Long Island Sound, Camp Harkness is a State owned park dedicated those with special needs. Aris Land Studio joined the architectural team of Silver / Petrucelli + Associates to develop a Master Plan for development of a campus whose best attributes include it's natural beauty, quiet atmosphere, and views of the Long Island Sound.
Four organizations participate at the camp: Oakhill, United Cerebral Palsy, The Arc New London, and DDS of Southbury which manage their own programs during the summer months. The Camp has numerous types of activities throughout the year, in addition to campers that include large fundraising events, equine therapy, as well as individual families that visit the facility for passive recreational opportunities. Goals of the 10-year master plan include:
